Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions ("Terms") apply to all motorhome hire bookings made with Travelway Limited ("Travelway", "we", "us", or "our"). By confirming a booking you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

Booking & payment

A booking is confirmed once we have received your completed booking form and the required deposit. We will send you a written confirmation by email. No booking is confirmed until this confirmation is issued.

• A deposit of 30% of the total hire cost is required to secure your booking.
• The remaining balance is due no later than 30 days before your pickup date.
• For bookings made within 30 days of pickup, full payment is required at the time of booking.
• Prices are quoted in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and include GST.

Cancellation & changes

If you need to cancel or change your booking, please contact us as early as possible. The following cancellation policy applies:

• More than 60 days before pickup: deposit forfeited, balance refunded in full.
• 30 to 60 days before pickup: 50% of total hire cost charged.
• Less than 30 days before pickup: 100% of total hire cost charged.

We strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance to cover cancellation costs. Date changes are subject to availability and may incur an administration fee.

Driver requirements

All drivers must meet the following requirements at the time of hire:

• Be aged 21 or over.
• Hold a full, current driving licence valid in New Zealand.
• Have held their licence for a minimum of 2 years.
• Provide their licence for inspection at pickup.

All drivers must be named on the booking and present at the time of pickup. Drivers not listed on the booking are not permitted to drive the vehicle.

Vehicle use

The motorhome must only be used in accordance with these Terms and any instructions provided at the handover. You agree to:

• Only drive on formed, sealed, or suitable gravel roads. The vehicle must not be taken on beaches, riverbeds, or 4WD tracks.
• Observe all vehicle height and weight restrictions. Bridge weight limits in New Zealand vary — check posted limits before crossing.
• Not carry more passengers than the vehicle is rated for.
• Not use the vehicle for any commercial purpose.
• Not transport animals without prior written approval.
• Not smoke inside the vehicle at any time.
• Comply with all New Zealand road rules and freedom camping regulations.

Bond & damage

A refundable bond of $3,000 NZD is required and will be held against your credit card at the time of pickup. The bond covers any damage, excess cleaning, or other costs incurred during your hire.

The bond will be released within 5 business days of return, provided the vehicle is returned in the same condition as collected, with no outstanding costs. Deductions will be itemised and communicated to you in writing.

You are responsible for all damage to the vehicle during the hire period, including damage caused by a third party where that party cannot be identified or held liable.

Insurance

Our motorhomes are comprehensively insured for the duration of the hire. However, insurance does not cover:

• Damage resulting from driver negligence or breach of these Terms.
• Damage to the vehicle's underside from unsuitable roads or off-road use.
• Overhead damage from low bridges, branches, or structures.
• Personal belongings — you are responsible for insuring your own effects.

Fuel & mileage

The vehicle will be provided with a full tank of diesel. It must be returned with a full tank. If not returned full, a refuelling fee will be charged based on the cost of fuel plus a service charge.

Our hire rates include unlimited kilometres unless otherwise stated in your booking confirmation.

Return & late returns

The vehicle must be returned to the agreed location by the agreed time on the final day of hire. Late returns will be charged at the daily rate pro-rata, subject to availability.

The vehicle should be returned in a clean and tidy condition, with all equipment present and the waste tanks emptied. Cleaning fees may apply if the vehicle is returned in an unacceptable state.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Travelway's liability to you in connection with any booking or hire is limited to the total hire cost paid by you for that booking. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss or damage.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising under these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
